AMD Phenom processors are uniquely designed to facilitate intelligent uses of energy and system resources that are reliable, virtualization-ready and energy efficient, driving optimum performance-per-watt. All AMD Phenom processors feature resources like an integrated DDR2 memory controller, HyperTransport technology links, and 128-bit Floating Point Units, for improved speed and performance in floating point calculations. With the true quad-core design offered by the AMD Phenom, cores communicate on the die rather than through a front side bus external to the processor ¿ a bottleneck inherent in other products that are packaging two dual-core chips to form quad-core processors. Additionally, AMD¿s Direct Connect Architecture on-chip ensures that all four cores have optimum access to the integrated memory controller and integrated HyperTransport links, so that performance scales well with the number of cores. This design is also highlighted by a unique shared L3 cache for quicker data access and Socket AM2 and Socket AM2+ infrastructure compatibility to enable a seamless upgrade path. The AMD Phenom FX processors are designed for systems that offer extreme megatasking capabilities. True quad-core platforms and octa-core platforms with the Dual Socket Direct Connect (DSDC) Architecture can provide enthusiast-class features and performance, to enable our customers to deliver professional-grade results. Moreover, AMD¿s quad-core processors and unique eight core solutions, with four processing cores on one die, coupled with the latest platform technologies, including the new ATI Radeon HD 2000 series, can deliver the ultimate enthusiast PC platform. AMD Phenom X2 and X4 processors offer true quad- and dual-core advanced technologies for seamless multitasking and optimum energy efficiency.

It works good enough for me. I wanted to try a quad core and this one was cheap. It does everything that I need it to.
"Amazing." Is what crossed my mind when I saw this CPU running, its amazingly good, quiet and comes at a very low price, I can just recommend getting a decent motherboard, and another cooler, like the Thermaltake R1, apart from that, it saves a lot of energy in its idle-mode, and runs great when on full load, paired with a 9600 fatal1ty I can run call of duty 4 in full resolution, just perfect. Thumbs up to AMD for always creating nice products.
this chip is under alot of scrutiny, but I ordered before reviewing(shame on me). It's real fussy in the overclocking dept.I have managed to overclock to 2.7 ghz.and maintain stability, using the multiplier at 13x and overclock by 5%,Only because my memory hasn't arrived yet.So I'm using 667 when I should be using 1066.anyways my board is a m3a-h/hdmi asus.remember.,I'm 2.7 ghz without gaming.I haven't loaded any games on this computer yet, only because I need find a ceiling. And work my way down.I would recommend a diffrent cooler.the processor temp is around 43c and thats not under load.
Burning dvd`s, streaming video and defraging the harddrive and playing BlackSite Area 51 all at the same time and the processor only got upto 78% and 128`f. I like BOTH AMD and INTEL and usally buy what ever I get the best deal on. A quadcore for $200 dollars is cheap. I moved from a Intel e6600 overclocked to 3.2GHz to the stock clock 2.3GHz 9600 Phenom and when burning video my e6600 would run at 100% most of the time. I got a SMOKIN deal on the 9600 Phenom and a am2+ motherboard so I tried it out and WOW. I paid $325.00 for my e6600 when it first came out. If you looking for a processor for editing and NOT overclocking this is a FANTASTIC processor for the price.
